VINEYARD MANAGER
Jesus Romero met Francis Mahoney through his boss, David Heil, a viticulturist at Domaine Chandon who was interested in Mahoney’s clonal research. Heil formed his own vineyard management company, hired Jesus and Mahoney became a client. That was in 1983. Jesus found a home and is still hard at work managing 160 acres of vines at Mahoney Vineyards.

“Jesus and I are truly partners in every aspect of our farming operation,” Francis says. Romero and his wife, Patricia, are considered family. Mahoney boasts that their three sons are all MVP soccer players and honor students. “Jesus, Jr. has a degree from U.C. Berkeley in biology and works for Crop Care. Nestor is a junior at U.C. Davis, majoring in international business and currently studying French in Paris, and Christian is an honor student at Vintage High,” he says proudly.

SALES AND MARKETING DIRECTOR
Stacy Manley began her wine industry career with Francis Mahoney a decade ago, working one day a week in the tasting room. That arrangement lasted for one day.  By the second week, Stacy was a full-time employee.

She had spent the previous decade as a brain injury, spinal cord and stroke rehabilitation therapist, coordinating outpatient services at a clinic in San Diego. She moved to the wine country expecting to take a year off. “After one month, I was thoroughly bored,” she admits. “I answered an ad in the paper and came to work for the Mahoneys.”

Soon Stacy was managing the tasting room, building the wine club and helping design a new visitors center. Over the years she has expanded her duties to include calling on accounts and working with distributors, overseeing sales while still wearing a variety of hats at the winery.
